Past and Present

Fritz Tax Service was started by Homer Fritz, sometime after World War II, in the kitchen of his home. He was a self-taught tax preparer. Once he learned to prepare his own tax return, he then began to assist his friends and neighbors to complete their returns. From this, a true family-owned small business was formed.
He continued to cultivate the business, adding clients over a period of years. Homer then moved his office from home to a building in Damascus. It remained in that location for a number of years. The business continued to grow. In the early 1970's, second generation family tax professional, Jerry Fritz, (Homer's son) began learning the ropes from his father. Jerry spent countless hours learning every aspect of the business as he watched his dad work.
In the 1980's the office was moved again. It remained in Damascus, but was housed in a smaller "mobile office." Jerry and Homer continued to work together in this compact space to provide the same service that their clients were accustomed to.
During the late 1980's,a third generation joined the team. Will Fritz, (Jerry's son) began learning the tax preparation business from the two senior preparers. Will worked part-time during his high school years in the Damascus location and then continued his work during and after his college years.
Then in 1997, the decision was made to move the office to Abingdon. The office was relocated to 16428 Jeb Stuart Highway, Abingdon, VA.
In January 2008, Fritz Tax Service moved yet again into a newly renovated building only 3/4 miles from the previous location. The modern facility is, by far, the most suitable yet.
